Yes. Commercial kitchens are one of the most common settings for German cockroaches because of the heat, food and equipment gaps. We schedule visits around your operating hours and provide the paperwork property managers and inspectors expect.

It is worth acting on. Cockroaches are nocturnal and good at hiding, so a daytime sighting often points to a larger hidden population. An assessment now is easier than an infestation later.

Sprays scatter roaches deeper into walls and do not reach egg cases. A program built on bait and IGRs targets the population itself and includes the follow-up needed to break the hatching cycle.

That is the classic result of a repellent store-bought spray. The ants avoid the treated area, and the colony responds by budding — splitting off satellite nests into new spots. Professional work goes the other way, using non-repellent products and baits that workers carry back into the nest, so the colony gets treated as one unit instead of being scattered.

No. They chew galleries into wood to nest in and push the shavings back out, which is why you find frass on the floor before you find any damage. They go for damp or already-damaged wood, so carpenter ants indoors are usually telling you there is water getting in somewhere that needs attention.

Bait has to move through the colony, so activity often looks the same or slightly busier for a few days before it drops away. Most homes see trails fade over one to three weeks. We give you an honest read once we know the species and where the nest is.

Those are reproductives leaving a mature colony. Finding them indoors usually means the nest is in or right against the building rather than out in the yard, so it is worth an inspection rather than a vacuum and a shrug.

A small, early-season paper-wasp nest with only a few wasps can sometimes be handled carefully. Ground nests and wall-void nests are another matter — yellowjackets defend hard and sting repeatedly. If the nest is larger than a golf ball, inside a wall, or near a doorway or play area, call a professional.

That is very likely a yellowjacket nest in the wall void. Do not seal the hole; trapped wasps can chew through drywall into the room. This is one of the most common late-summer calls we take.

The workers die off in fall and a nest is not reused, but new queens emerge in spring and often pick the same sheltered spots. Sealing entry points in early spring is the best prevention.

Bees are important pollinators and are handled differently. When we confirm honeybees, we talk through the most responsible option for the situation before doing anything.

No, and it is the thing people most often have backwards. Ticks climb grass stems and leaf litter and wait for something to brush past. If one turns up on your neck or in your hair, it was picked up lower down and walked there.

No, and anybody who says they can is selling. Ticks arrive on deer, rabbits, rodents and birds from the land around you. What treatment does is knock the numbers down in the band where they quest and cut the habitat they need, so the parts of the property you actually use carry less pressure for a stretch of the season.

Remove the tick carefully with fine-tipped tweezers, gripping at the skin and pulling straight out, then speak to your doctor or your provincial public-health line. We handle the property, not the person. We will not tell you what a bite means or what to watch for, because that is a medical question and it belongs with medical people.

Spring into early summer is the main window, with a second round in autumn when activity picks back up. Ticks are out any time the ground is snow-free and above about freezing, so a mild stretch in either shoulder season brings them back.

No. The blacklegged tick is the Lyme vector. The American dog tick, which is the one found most often on people and dogs in this part of the country, is not. That difference is most of the reason identification is worth doing rather than guessing.

No. It reduces the pressure in the treated outdoor areas for a period of time. Adults fly in from surrounding land and heavy rain starts a new batch nearby, so this is a seasonal, repeated service rather than a permanent fix. Anyone promising you a mosquito-free yard is overselling it.

Through the season, on an interval set to the property and the pressure it carries. Rain, standing water on neighbouring land and how sheltered the yard is all change how fast it needs a refresh. We set the schedule after seeing the site rather than before.

That is the most common version of this job. Treatment is timed so the deck and gathering areas are usable when you are actually there, and the source-reduction list matters more at a property that sits empty, since nobody is there to tip the water out between visits.

No. Adults do not rest on open, sunny lawn — they sit in shaded vegetation. We treat the resting harbourage: shrub undersides, fence lines, the shaded perimeter and the planting around decks and patios. That is where they are.

If it is not on your property we cannot treat it, and we will tell you so rather than pretend otherwise. What we can do is clear everything on your side of the line and set the treatment schedule with that outside pressure in mind.

That is the classic cluster fly pattern. They overwintered in the attic or wall voids and become active on sunny days. The lasting fix is exterior work and sealing in late summer before they get inside.

Because you are treating adults while the nursery keeps running. That is a small fly problem, and the small fly program is source-based: the film inside the drain, the mop sink, the soda-gun holster, the seam under the ice well. Find that film and remove it and the flies stop. Leave it and no amount of spray keeps up with it.

That is the large fly program. Large flies breed outside — in the bins, in the grease area, in spilled organics on the pad — then come in through a door that does not seal. We work on the door sweeps and seals, the bin and grease-area routine, and light traps placed back from the entrance and out of sight of the doorway so they intercept what gets in rather than drawing more flies toward the building.

They can be part of a program, but placement decides whether they help or hurt. A light visible from an open door pulls flies in. Set back from entrances, out of the line of sight of the door and away from prep surfaces, they are a useful interception and monitoring device. Source control and exclusion still do the real work.

Blow flies in that pattern usually mean something died in a wall void, an attic, a chimney or under a floor. Treating the flies does not address it. We locate the source, and we are honest with you about what access is going to take.

Removal on its own rarely lasts, because new birds move into an empty roost. Lasting control pairs cleanup with exclusion — spikes, netting and deterrents fitted to your building.

Possibly, since these insects spread between packages. Everything needs to be checked, infested items thrown out, and the shelves vacuumed and treated. Once the infested material is gone and goods are stored in sealed containers, the problem usually ends there.

Almost always inside a package that was already infested when it came home or arrived at the warehouse. From there the insects move to nearby containers.

Heavy rain drives ground insects to higher, drier ground, and that often means your foundation and basement. Better drainage and sealed entry points fix most of it.

Almost never. This group is a nuisance more than a threat. Steady numbers are a sign of a moisture or entry issue rather than a health risk.
